Alexandros Gkagkatsis
In vitro reaction networks for molecular information processing
About me
Alex studied at the University of Hull, where he obtained his degree in Bsc Chemistry. During his degree he developed an interest in Biochemistry that helped him decide towards a more specialized sector of Chemistry. He now pursues a Master’s degree towards Medicinal Chemistry. His first 9-month internship at the Radboud University, was the synthesis of peptides that were screened towards various enzymes to give possible hits and structural information about a specific class of compounds used as inhibitors, benzothiazoles. That gave him the idea to learn more about enzymatic activity and reactions. In his internship with the Huck group, he works towards the facile and versatile synthesis of photoinhibitors using acylhydrazones as scaffolds.
